Petrels are said to be named for Saint Peter, for the way they patter across the waves as if walking on water. Teal is one of El’s favourite colours, and this is her moodiest: deep blue-green under a heavy sky.

As a candle it barely shimmers. Lit, it swirls into teal, ink-blue and storm green, like a maelstrom seen from above. The drop lands sharp, then a slow warmth rolls in like weather.

Pure paraffin runs in dark, glossy currents and sets with a wet-stone sheen. It peels away in casts once the scene breaks.

How to Use:

Light the candle. Once the wax starts to melt around the base of the wick, tip parallel and test the first drops on your own forearm before the canvas. Avoid inverting the candle, hold parallel to the canvas and rotate in the hand to melt wax evenly. Height controls temperature. Higher is cooler, lower is hotter. Build from there, one deliberate drop at a time.

Metallic finishes run warmer than standard paraffin, the mica in the pigment holds extra heat. Watch the wick while it burns. If it stops burning down with the candle, put it out and trim the wick before relighting.

Safety:

Formulated for wax play. Keep away from eyes, face, broken skin and hair. Never leave a burning candle unattended. Trim the wick between sessions. Consent and communication before the first drop, always.

Paraffin retains heat longer than soy. Never let it pool on the skin, as pooled wax can run significantly hotter than the stated melting point and risks burns.
